serve teams

Here at Skyland, there are constant opportunities to serve the community.

Whether your gifting is in music, working with your hands, technology,

cooking, or leading people, we have a place for you.

  • We have a vibrant and diverse worship ministry at Skyland. We involve as many people and instruments as we possibly can! If your gifting is in music, and you want to use those gifts here, there are several ways to get involved:

    • Choir - Our choir meets at 7pm on Wednesday nights in the Chapel.
    • Orchestra - Our orchestra rehearses at 8:30am on Sundays in the Family Life Center.
    • Praise Band - Our praise band rehearses at 8:30am and 4pm on Sundays in the Family Life Center.
If you'd like to get involved, but you're not sure where you'd fit in best, send an email to Josh Hill, our Worship Pastor.
He'd love to talk with you!
  • In a building as old as ours, we have a constant need for help on our building and grounds team. If you are gifted in working with your hands, or you have experience with a trade skill, call our maintenance team leader, David Crump.

  • There are several ways you can get involved with our media team here at the church:

    • Presentation Team - This team runs lyrics and videos for church services.
    • Audio Team - This team runs sound for our live and broadcast services.
    • Video Team - This team films and produces videos for church usage.
    • Social Media Team - This team maintains and grows our social media presence on Facebook and Instagram.
If you'd like more information about getting involved with one of these teams, send an email to the head of our media team,
Jennifer Noatch. She'd love to talk to you!
  • We are constantly preparing meals for families and groups, and at Skyland there is no such thing as having too many cooks in the kitchen! If you are gifted in the areas of hospitality or cooking, call our hospitality team leader Teresa Crump.

  • We have an exciting and growing children's ministry, and we're in need of help! Here are just a few of the many avenues in which this team serves the church:

    • Treehouse Club - This is our once a week after-school ministry to the children of Cottondale Elementary School.
    • Children's Choir - We teach our kids the importance of worship, singing, and the words that we sing.
    • Community Groups - We lead our kids through the Bible chronologically, with lessons that run parallel to those their parents learn.
Due to the importance of keeping our children safe, any volunteer that serves with minors must complete safety training and a background check. For more information, email Pastor Alex Cowan.
  • There are many opportunities to pour into the lives of the youth of our church. They meet on campus twice a week:

    • Sunday Morning - Community Group is the time that our youth study the Bible in a small group setting.
    • Wednesday Night - Our youth focus on evangelism in a large group setting, providing a place for their friends to get plugged in.

Due to the importance of keeping our children safe, any volunteer that serves with minors must complete safety training and a background check. For more information, email our Student Pastor Trace Locke.

  • We have a healthy and thriving college ministry at Skyland that meets twice a week:

    • Sunday Morning Community Group - College students meet to study the Bible chronologically through the Gospel Project curriculum. They always need people to bring food!
    • Wednesday Night Hangouts - Our students meet at various homes and restaurants around town, just to build and develop community and encourage each other. They are always looking for hosts!
For more information on how you can help serve the college ministry, email Trace Locke.
  • We are always in need of people to welcome everyone to church. If you have a smiling face, you're qualified!

This team requires about a thirty minute time commitment, one to two times a month. For more information, email Pastor Alex Cowan.
